Re: water pump capacity

Hi JB, the water pump is no more than an impeller on a shaft supported by bearings attached directly to the rotor shaft by means of an olham coupling. Its output is entirely determined by the speed of the engine. Think of an old fashioned car water pump driven by the fan belt. I don't know if anyone...

Re: Forum Spring Clean

Hi David some of us are lookers rather than posters. I accept of course that if everyone was the same in this respect there would be no posts at all. One thing that may be worth a look is how to improve the announcements section. Many of us attend various local events and camping weekends etc and if...

The oldham coupling had worn to nothing on the impeller side. i had a spare with me and I was sufficiently close to an aire de repose to coast in w...

It will still start even with a consi...

Re: Starter solenold

Hi Roger, you would be better off posting in the technical interest section, this section is hardly used. This may seem too obvious but the symptom you describe is exactly what happens if the kill switch is in the off position. Also there are two ignition fuses, I should check them. As far as I know...

Re: New owner

HiI hope that you are enjoying the Norton. If you have a Commander with Yamaha XJ 900 forks then there is a straightforward mod which is fully explained on the Startright website. It involves putting in aluminium an insert (although i used hard plastic). the bike wallows less and i am very pleased w...

Re: Moly Coating

Hi AllFollowing on from Richards post, the main reason that the NOC restricts postings to members is so that it can require members to accept the club's rules with regard to content. Postings that are offensive are relatively few but can cause considerable damage to an organisation that owns the web...
