Well, that’s not a million miles away from Chelmsford, if you ever fancy a trip north of the river.
Remember to bring an empty 5 litre can with you.

Re: Re5 oils
The club has a stock which it can decant to Club Members ... and if memory serves, it’s £3 a litre.
I have some in Essex.
And so does Dave Weighell in North Yorkshire.

Re: Re5 oils
Hi CB
I too use GTX in the engine sump ..... but Rotella DD+40 in the metering tank.
Why?
Because it’s what rotary Nortons use, and so I have plenty to hand. It’s cheap. It burns clean. And nearly 40,000 miles on, the bike is still going!!!

Re: Reclaiming rotary engine components.
Hi all, I don’t do Facebook either, but as far as I am aware, the one big advantage is that posts cannot be ‘moderated’ and subscribers are free to write what they like. However, the ROC site has never (AFAIK) had to be moderated due to inappropriate comments. Margaret does however do Facebook (and ...

The two housings appear to be a water-cooled one from a Commander - and an air-cooled from an IP2 / Classic.

Happy 2028 to all ROC members!
I have just been sent a photo of the first of the refinished rotor housings .... and very good they look too.
There will be more details in the next club magazine.

RE5 Starter Clutch
It has been proposed to have a batch of the (unobtainable, and unique to the RE5) starter clutches made. (In USA) Rest assured, if yours hasn't begun to fail yet, it will do eventually ... and you'll get that annoying whizzing sound as you press the starter button and it fails to engage. Likely cost...

The vendor seems to have a tenuous grasp of reality ......
In his blurb, he believes this to be worth £50k + ...... and if that is the case, why on earth is he asking only £15k?
Given that it is only ‘worth’ what some else is prepared to pay, let’s see if he’s right.

Hello Willy,
If you are the Willy I think you are, in Belgium .... I believe the reason you are not getting the club magazine any more, is because you did not renew your subscription to the club in 2017 .... nor even in 2016 - as far as I can tell.

Bill Hignett
It is with a very heavy heart to report that ROC member Bill Hignett was killed in a motorcycle accident on 5 October. Initial reports suggest that Bill was riding his very distinctive Norton Classic, distinctive because it was painted red and had BSA tank badges. Some of you may know this machine....

Hi Holger,
It depends on how much of a hurry you are in.
We often have a few friends from Germany visit each year. I am sure one of them could be persuaded to take some oil back for you.
They’re from either Lübeck, Düsseldorf or Ulm (usually).

It was from me. It was among a batch of spares I bought from the London police after they had sold their last Rotary Norton. Sadly I have no more, but I do still have a load of NOS IP2 bits.

Hi Bill,
If I can get some oil over to Camberley, Surrey at the end of this month for collection from there .... is that any help?
I assume it is Silkolene 2T in sealed bottles you are after, as your man is not around with an empty drum to decant the Rotella 40?

Well mine on my RE5 is wired straight to the bike's battery, John.
As it was on the IP2.
I would guess the Classic is the same?

This was on Norton's 'to do' list ....
There is a parts list, hand drawn by Sir Richard.
And of course, there's an owner's handbook.

Re: f1 battery
Awkward to get to which is why they are often overlooked.
Bodywork has to come off.
Then the fuel tank.
Then have a peek below the plug leads and it should be there.
Luckily, they are a common size .... i.e./ cheap-ish.

Anyone fancy coming to the above event?
Opens to the public at 10am, but if we are to have a ROC stand, then you will probably need to arrive before then.
Club entries are being collated by Gerald Pleace - a member of Brooklands, as well as the ROC.
