That's not quite right the handlebars on the Commander were made especially by a local company for Norton thus now why so difficult to replace unless you have a pair to re-chrome.

Well now with life as it is both me and my new partner being made redundant and other family issues I have to sell some bikes apparently... grumble grumble.. I use a workmate it is brilliant as you can clamp the lower primary section in place and also gives good access all round

The rev counter failing is the rev counter itself as the capacitors inside dry out and often cause them to fail.

Yes sorry Geoff has been really helpful and let me know about the toolkit, luckily I did win it to reunite it with the bike.
I am now looking for a Norton key wallet and the original certificate someone has it somewhere and it should be with the bike of course.

Classic Superbikes in Fleet have the ex Norton Owners Club Chairman's bike that Mr. Negus has loved over with all the mods and rides amazingly. The toolkit that should have been with my Classic is on eBay now the owner at the time apparently didn't have it but all of a sudden he has and its on eBay. Doesn't seem right to me????
But that's life I guess hope I win it to get the bike partnered back with its actual tools.
